Blinds Installation Tips

Step 1

Hold end cap into left side of reveal as shown. End caps are marked Left (L) and Right (R). If possible, mount cap 10mm in from front of reveal edge, screw into place with parts supplied.

Step 2

Repeat this process on the right corner of reveal..

Step 3

Insert blind into end cap, keeping thumb between top slat and head box to avoid trapping slat in end cap.

Step 4

Close cap with firm push. Ensure small metal tongue clicks into retaining slot. This is Important!

Step 5

Release blind by pulling lift cord at 45 across blind until “click” is heard, then lower blind gently.

Step 6

Remove white paper from one side of Velcro pads supplied. Attach pads to head box face approx 100 mm in from each end, space extra pads evenly on head box.

Step 7

Remove front protective paper from Velcro pads.

Step 8

Carefully hold pelmet in place and press firmly against Velcro.

Instructions for Face Fit8

Hold end caps in position on edge of architrave as shown in photo,then follow all fitting steps 2 through 8 in reveal fit instructions.

Step 1 – Linking The Frame

Step 2 – Fixing The Frame

Insert blind into end cap, keeping thumb between top slat and head box to avoid trapping slat in end cap.

Step 3 – Adjusting Your Installation

Close cap with firm push. Ensure small metal tongue clicks into retaining slot. This is Important!

Finishing Touches

For inside mount installations, insert the wood plugs into the hole on the frame. For outside mount installation with an L frame, place a small daub of filler into the frame hole. If required you can run a thin line of filler or sealant between your shutter frame and your wall.

Measurement Tips

Measuring

Use a steel measuring tape with mm.
Measure all windows, even if they appear to be the same size.
Decide whether the blinds will fit inside the window frame (reveal fit) or outside the window frame (face fit).

For Reveal Fit Blinds

Blind will fit inside the window frame, make sure you have enough depth for the blinds. You will need minimum 50mm depth in the window frame to make a good fit.
WIDTH:
Measure the exact width from left to right of the window frame, in three places, top, middle, and bottom. Write down the smallest of the three measurements, this is the width you will order, do not make any deduction, we will deduct 10mm from the width of your window.
DROP:
Measure the exact height from the top to bottom inside the window frame, in three place, left, middle and right. Write down the smallest of the three measurement, this is the drop you will order, do not make any deduction, we will deduct 10mm from the drop of your window measurement.

For Face Fit Blinds

Blind will fit outside the window frame. If the window opening has architraves surrounding it, the blinds will be fitted to these.
WIDTH:
At the top of the window, measure the exact width from outside edge of architrave on the left side of the window to outside edge of architrave on the right side of the window. Make no deductions.This will be the width of your blinds. If there is no architrave, choose the amount you wish the blinds to overlap with the window opening. We suggest a minimum of 20 mm on both sides.
DROP:
Measure the exact height from top edge of architrave at top of window down to the bottom of window. Make no deductions.

Maintenance Tips

How To Maintain Your Shutters And Blinds

Plantation Shutters
Timber Shutters? Dust when required with vacuum cleaner with soft brush attachment or with microfibre cloth or duster. If dirt is stubborn use soft damp ( not wet ) cloth soaked in water with a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid. Dry shutter with soft cloth. A periodic clean and polish or glitz furniture and surface polish used gently, will prolong the surface quality of your shutters. Do not use any harsh cleaning agents.

PVC Shutters? As per timber shutters

Timber Venetian Blinds
In general, the vacuum brush or microfibre duster should be sufficient to clean these blinds.Should the dirt be more stubborn, a damp ( not wet ) cloth should be used to clean the slats.

Be careful not to wet the slats too much, especially around the cord holes. These holes Can not be sealed and the wood might absorb water and swell and contract causing the paint to crack. Microfibre fingers which fit between the slats and are a convenient tool to clean venetian blinds are available from hardware stores.
